Your Marketing & Content Repurposing Strategy

Staple Content for Podcast Episodes

While there are so many pieces of content we’ll cover today, I encourage all of my podcast clients and students to start with the following as staple content pieces for every single episode:

Organic Marketing Channels for Your Podcast Marketing

You’ll want to have a marketing strategy of some kind, and with podcasts, I always suggest taking advantage of organic marketing channels. Here are some that myself and my clients have found success in:

  • Instagram*
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest*
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn*
  • Email Newsletter*
  • Blog Posts*

*These are the platforms I’m personally using for Clocking In with Haylee Gaffin.

Repurposing Your Podcast Content

The goal of repurposing your podcast content is to use content that you’ve already created to serve your audience.

  • Blog Linked Posts Directly on Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Static Posts on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, Pinterest (Both title and quotes)
  • Audiograms on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, IG Reels, Pinterest
  • Pull Quotes for Twitter
  • Video Posts on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, IG Reels
  • Custom Messaging in Email Promotions
  • Adjusted Show Notes for LinkedIn with outbound links to the show.
  • Blog Posts that Link to a Special Series or Explain a particular part of an episode in more depth and link to the episode.
  • A resources section on your website that highlights episode categories, resources, etc

Review the Transcript:

Hey friends, I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week! Today’s episode is all about content repurposing and marketing for your podcast episodes. While I think it’s easy to consider posting to Instagram as your marketing strategy, there are so many other marketing tools you can use and platforms to consider, plus you have so many additional pieces of content you can create from your podcast episodes! If you’re putting in the effort to create a valuable show, but you’re not taking advantage of what content you can build from it, this episode is for you.

Hey y’all welcome to the clocking in podcast the podcast for entrepreneurs and professionals making their way in the working world i’m your host Haylee Gaffin this podcast is produced and brought to you by Gaffin Creative a podcast production company for creative entrepreneurs learn more about our services at Gaffincreative.com plus you’ll also find resources show notes and more for the clocking in podcast so let’s clock in and get to work.

Today’s episode may be a little longer than my standard episodes, but honestly I think it’s needed! For many podcast hosts, their podcast strategy starts and ends with the content of the episode and what they’re promoting—while I think that is one of the most valuable components to the strategy, I don’t want you to negate the importance of the marketing of your podcast.

Before we dive too far into this, today’s episode is brought to you by Podcast Strategy Calls at Gaffin Creative. Whether you’re looking for a podcast planning call, a podcast audit, or full on podcast strategy, I offer a call specialize just for you! You can choose from three types of podcast strategy call that best fits your needs so that we can help you reach your podcast goals! If you’re interested in booking your podcast strategy call, head over to gaffincreative.com/048 where I’ll link it in the show notes.

Now, let’s talk all about repurposing and marketing your podcast content. If you’re publishing a podcast, but you’re not pushing people there, it’s not going to grow as fast as you’d prefer. So your podcast needs a marketing plan and strategy to add to your overall marketing strategy.

Included in your marketing is a number of pieces of content that come directly from your podcast episode! Oftentimes, when a podcaster publishes an episode, they have a few staple pieces of content they create, like:

  • Podcast Audio
  • Video from Interviews sometimes
  • Scripts, Transcriptions, or Outlines
  • Cover Graphics
  • And a Blog Post on their Site (with potential show notes)

Each of these components is so important for marketing your episode, driving traffic to your website, and creating more content.

It doesn’t stop there. I believe those few pieces are the bare minimum for what you should be creating. Before we look at the content pieces and examples of what we could create, let’s take a look at some of the organic marketing channels you could be utilizing:

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Email Newsletter
  • Blog Posts

Now these are just some of the basics—it also doesn’t mean that you have to use them all or that you can’t use other places. In addition to these platforms, you’ll want to consider each content type per platform.

Additionally, as a podcast producer, I want to share that it is not required for you to create separate social media accounts for your podcast. If your podcast aligns with your personal account or business account, you can absolutely use it as a marketing channel.

Now before I share all of the different content types, I want to share a quick little reminder that you DO NOT have to be on every platform for your podcast. While I think it’s important to test what works for you, showing up in all of the places and creating too many pieces of content can easily lead to burnout. Let’s avoid that and make this simpler for you.

The goal of repurposing your podcast content is to use content that you’ve already created to serve your audience. This could mean that if you’re posting to social media 7 times a week, but only sharing about your podcast episode once, you could change that to sharing three times a week in different ways about your newest episode.

With those little disclaimers out of the way, I here are a few pieces of content that you can create from your podcast episodes:

  • Blog Linked Posts Directly on Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Static Posts on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, Pinterest (Both title and quotes)
  • Audiograms on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, IG Reels, Pinterest
  • Pull Quotes for Twitter
  • Video Posts on Social Media: IG & FB Feed, IG Story, IG Reels
  • Custom Messaging in Email Promotions
  • Adjusted Show Notes for LinkedIn with outbound link to the show.
  • Blog Posts that Link to Special Series or Explain a particular part of an episode in more depth and link to the episode.
  • A resources section on your website that highlights episode categories, resources, etc

Now, I know your next question or concern is probably: Holy heck, Haylee. I don’t have the time to create all of that or the capacity to do it. Don’t worry — I know I know. Like I said, you do not have to create every single piece of content or do every single thing I’ve mentioned today.. I certainly don’t for a few reasons, but primarily because I want to create quality content for my audience and post it where they are.

And with the content I am creating, I have a team. That’s one of the most important things to consider—you can outsource some of this work by hiring a team who can create and build a strategy with you! My team at Gaffin Creative does just that—with some of our strategy based clients, we’re developing a content repurposing strategy, then implementing it each week.

Now, you may be handling most your podcast production on your own and aren’t quite ready to hand it off, so that’s why I’ve started offering Podcast Strategy Calls at Gaffin Creative.
