Summer is here—and with it comes both the temptation to slow down and the opportunity to get ahead. If you’re a podcaster staring down your content calendar wondering “Should I take a break?” or “Should I double down?”—you’re not alone.
In this episode of Clocking In, I asked a few of my amazing clients to share how they’re approaching their podcast this summer. From full-on batching mode to intentional breaks, their strategies are a reminder that there’s no one “right” way to podcast through the season.
So, whether you’re craving rest, chasing growth, or simply trying to maintain momentum, let their plans inspire your next move.

Bree: Batching Now for a Restful Fall
Podcast: Thrive Podcast for Content Creators
Summer Strategy: Batch ahead to take October–December off
Bree is playing the long game this summer. She’s staying in production mode now so she can enjoy real time off later in the year.
“Once November 1st hits, the rest of the year is shot,” Bree shared. “So I’m batching all summer long so I can take off October, November, and December—and still come back strong in January.”
Her smart move? Planning ahead now so her future self can rest later (and still show up consistently for her audience).
Stephanie: Staying Steady All Season Long
Podcast: Organize and Cherish with The Organized Flamingo
Summer Strategy: Keep the weekly rhythm going
For Stephanie, consistency is queen. Her show runs year-round—summer included.
“We keep it pretty consistent week after week, no matter the season,” she said. “If we notice lower listens during vacation-heavy weeks, we’ll bring those episodes back later with a fresh intro.”
No drama, no stress—just a reliable presence for her audience, all 52 weeks of the year.
Colie: Sabbatical Mode with a Strategic Twist
Podcast: Business-First Creatives
Summer Strategy: Guest replays + solo episodes + family time
Colie is making this summer intentional. She’s mixing in content she’s excited about (like behind-the-scenes solo episodes), re-airing guest episodes from other podcasts, and blocking out her calendar to spend time with her daughter—who’s heading to high school in the fall.
“July is all solo episodes. I’m leaning into storytelling and sharing what I’m really doing in my business,” she explained. “And in August, I’m resharing episodes where I’ve been a guest on other shows—I love how those offer a different lens into what I do.”
Bonus: She’s dishing about using AI in her workflows and building mini courses for her shop—talk about making the most of the content calendar.
Ali: Full Speed Ahead, with Family Along for the Ride
Podcast: Brand & Market Podcast
Summer Strategy: Keep weekly episodes rolling—plus birthday interviews with her kids!
Ali is embracing consistency, but with a fun twist: Her kids are joining her on the mic.
“Every year for their birthday, they get an interview with me on the podcast,” she said. “It’ll be interesting to have my two-year-old on—might be a short episode!”
It’s a beautiful example of weaving personal life into content in a way that’s both memorable and meaningful.
So, What’s Your Summer Podcast Plan?
As you can see, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Some podcasters are batching now to rest later. Some are keeping their regular cadence. Others are shaking things up with guest replays.
Here’s the one tip I’ll leave you with:
👉 Your summer podcast plan should reflect the season of business you’re in—not just the time of year.
Ask yourself:
- Do I need rest? Plan ahead to make it happen.
- Am I ready to grow? Experiment with new content or collaborations.
- Want to stay visible? Repurpose what’s already working.
Your podcast is a tool—and it should work for you, not the other way around.
