The Benefits of Creative Repurposing
In my conversation with Melissa at the Get Creative Summit, we discussed several ways to repurpose content effectively. Here are some key takeaways:
Using Guest Appearances from Other Podcasts
One of the easiest ways to create new podcast episodes is by repurposing guest appearances from other podcasts. This strategy not only saves time but also introduces your audience to new voices and perspectives. I suggest creating a custom intro to provide context and encourage listeners to check out the original podcast.
Feed Drops and Highlighting Clients, Students, or Industry Friends
Another creative repurposing tactic is to do feed drops or highlight your clients’ content. This involves swapping episodes with industry friends, clients, or fellow podcasters. Feed drops are a great way to introduce your audience to valuable content from others, while also promoting your own work or network.
Re-airing Old Episodes
Re-airing old episodes is an excellent way to keep your podcast active during busy times, holidays, or personal breaks. Adding a custom intro to explain why you’re re-airing the episode can provide context and enhance listener engagement. This tactic ensures that new listeners are exposed to valuable content they may have missed.
Leveraging Paid Content for Free Podcast Episodes
As a business podcaster, you probably have valuable content behind paywalls, such as coaching sessions, membership trainings, or paid webinars. Repurposing snippets of this content for your free podcast episodes can showcase the value of your offerings and entice listeners to explore more. For example, I used a training session from my Mic Check Society’s Facebook group as a podcast episode, demonstrating how it can serve dual purposes.
Engaging Your Audience for Content Creation
Finally, one of my favorite approaches is leveraging your audience and clients for content creation. By asking for their input or featuring their advice, you can create engaging and diverse episodes. This approach not only provides fresh perspectives but also fosters a sense of community and involvement among your listeners.
Creative Repurposing Techniques
Melissa and I discussed various creative repurposing ideas, including:
1. From Vault Episodes: Re-airing old episodes, especially those that performed well or are seasonally relevant.
2. Compilation Episodes: Creating compilation episodes from snippets of various episodes on similar topics.
3. Collaborating with Audience: Tagging in clients or audience members to share their experiences or advice, creating crowd-sourced episodes.
Repurposing content is a powerful way to maintain a consistent podcast schedule while minimizing workload. By creatively repurposing content, you can provide value to your audience, showcase your expertise, and continuously grow your podcast.
By incorporating these creative content repurposing strategies, you can maximize the potential of your podcast and connect with your audience on a deeper level.
